Kapalua Bay

The Bay is Kapalua's first course and was designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Sean in 1975. This course runs by the Ritz Carlton down to the ocean and offers some challenging golf on two short but tricky ocean holes when the trades are blowing. The back side is more sheltered from the wind and plays a little easier. The exception is the finishing holes... 16 with a stream winding down the middle of the fairway makes the tee shot a little more of a decision with the wind blowing 20 mph into your face. 17 is a tough well-bunkered par 3 with a lake on the left for a long iron shot. Most enjoy playing golf on the Bay because of the ocean holes. Lava flowing into the sea created Kapalua which means "Arms embracing the Sea."

Kapalua Plantation

This resort is ranked one of the best in the nation by GOLF Magazine. Terraced among silvery-blue pineapple fields above a flawless beach in glamorous west Maui, Kapalua is the only resort in the nation that manages to combine an essentially rural character with world-class sophistication. Golf-wise, the resort's star attraction is the Plantation Course. Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the Plantation has broad fairways and enormous greens; which are a match for the sprawling, verdant site, that rambles over dramatic, topsy-turvy terrain swept by Pacific winds. Views of Molokai and other offshore islands from all three courses are outstanding.

Ka'anapali Kai

The Kai Course was redesigned in 2005 with new greens and tee boxes and reopened in November of that year with a different name. This shorter resort course offers lots of challenge as it's tight but fun. With its southern location in Ka'anapali it can be windy on the Royal Course but calm on the Kai. One of the fun features is that it runs along the Ka'anapali Sugar Cane Train route and the train riders wave as they go merrily along. Be aware though, the engineers like to blow the steam whistle right in the middle of a stroke at the ball. The railroad trestle at hole #4 is a great photo op. Fun to play in the afternoon after a morning on Ka'anapali's white sand beach.

Kahili

This course is short, but very challenging. The course sits on the side of West Maui Mountain, offering some great views of the Pacific Ocean. The fairways are fairly wide open, and water hazards come into play on three holes. There is a lot of elevation change from tee to green. Because it sits on the side of the West Maui Mountains, it is quite exposed to the elements. This means that the trade winds can be really harsh at certain times of the day. This course and the King Kamehameha Golf Club share the same address, yet they are different courses with their own pro shops and clubhouses. Kahili just happens to be the public course while King Kamehameha is a members only club.

Pukalani Country Club

This course's fairways are wide and hilly, and its greens are fast and sloped. The course is located at 1,100 feet in elevation, resulting in cooler playing conditions. The biggest challenges come from the wind and elevation changes. The high elevation provides some great views of the Island of Maui. It's an enjoyable course for a budget golfer. The course is tree-lined with thick lush country grass in the fairways. Your ball sits up nice and high for easy approach shots. It's the only course in Hawaii with no fairway bunkers for easy driving, but with lots of nice mature Norfolk pines. Pukalani is listed as one of our "Must Play Courses"

Wailea Emerald

The pretty sister to the Gold Course. Voted by Golf Digest "most friendly for ladies" but the back tees are no pushover. Designed to be a fun layout for all golfers, the Emerald course has a distinctly tropical flavor and features abundant flowers. The name Wailea Emerald describes the great course conditions and color of the course. The Emerald is a very nice tropical resort course for couples. Lots of short fun holes and reachable par 5's... birdies are probable for better players. Enjoy the amenities of Wailea's practice facilities with one of the better target ranges and chipping areas in Hawaii.

Wailea Blue

The Blue was the second resort course on Maui, built in 1972, and it's still one of Maui's most popular resort courses. It's close to the Wailea hotels and The Shops at Wailea making this a favorite for visitors looking for a fun golf experience in Hawaii. Its wide green fairways and large greens make for enjoyable golfing for all. Most players have their best scores on the Blue as it is very user friendly. The Wailea Blue course is sheltered a little better from the trade winds making it a true pleasure to play. Wailea Blue is listed as one of our "Must Play Courses"

Wailea Gold

The Gold Course is the most challenging of the three Wailea courses, with its rugged, natural look. The course incorporates ancient lava rock walls, stark rock outcroppings and gardens of indigenous grasses. Strategically-situated bunkers and the undulating terrain demand strategy and finesse to score well. One hundred and twenty eight white sand bunkers protect the lush fairways and fast greens. We would recommend the Gold as one of the best resort courses on Maui. A must play. Excellent practice facility with target range and three chipping and putting areas. The Wailea Gold course was a past host for the Wendy's Championship Skins Game.

Makena North

This resort, which was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1995 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," features two eighteen hole courses. Of which only the North Course is open at this time. The North Course plays the tighter of the two, with lava flows awaiting an errant tee shot. The firm, well-undulated greens, and narrow fairways provide a challenge, while the ocean views are the perfect aesthetic compliment. The signature hole is #14, a 620-yard, par 5. The dogleg right fairway moves downhill to a narrow landing area, culminating in an approach to a well-protected green. "Golf Digest" rated the North Course as the 9th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 10th in 1997-98. Makena North is listed as one of our "Must Play Courses"

Elleair

This course features narrow fairways and scenic ocean views. The greens are well-groomed, and the course is usually more enjoyable to play during the mornings when the wind is not blowing as hard. From December to March one can watch the whales jump around offshore while one plays. Elleair is the most improved course on Maui with new grass on the greens and new sand in the bunkers. Elleair is also a very good value for the dollar minded golfer. Elleair is listed as one of our "Must Play Courses"

The Dunes at Maui Lani

Located right in the middle of Maui, The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course is a championship links style track designed by architect Robin Nelson, and opened for play in January 1999. The course is constructed over natural "dunes" created when the island of Maui was formed, and the design artfully follows this naturally sloping terrain. The course also takes advantage of the Pacific tradewinds, which add challenge to play. The rolling fairways are characterized by massive elevation changes and the medium sized greens are undulating. The fairways are lined by kiawe trees, and strategically placed pot bunkers lurk throughout the design. Water comes into play on two holes. This par 72 course plays from 4,768 to 6,841-yards and offers four sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. The Dunes is listed as one of our "Must Play Courses"
